He was a Conservative when first elected but had recently been sitting as an Independent. Term ends 2011.
Daventry district council: Yelvertoft ward, after the resignation of Conservative councillor Kay Hemmings. Term ends May 2010.

Westminster city council: West End ward, after the particularly sad death of Ian Wilder who was a Conservative and an exceptionally dedicated servant of his ward. Term ends May 2010.
